The Burmese cat or Burmese is a short-haired breed of domestic cat. It is one of the longest kept oriental cat breeds in Europe and comes from Burma, what is now Myanmar. There the monks keep them as one of 16 temple cat breeds under their Thai name Maeo Thong Daeng (“copper cat”) or ศุภ ลักษณ์ RTGS: Suphalaksa, that means “auspicious character”: they are considered to be a lucky charm.
